succulent decorations

Look what those clever people at Flora Grubb have been up to.  Now why didn't I think of that!  The cuttings are happy to be hung around the house for a few months over Christmas and can then be planted in the garden.  A very green decoration idea.

mid - cent - mod

I love Mid-century modern design.  Think Palm Springs, clean lines against a rugged mountainous backdrop, manicured lawns, palm tree avenues, the concrete & the colour - I love it all.  Our current home is a federation style, brick, semi and we are working on a more scandinavian design interior style (mostly determined by the amount of Ikea furniture we have).  But who says you can't have a totally different style in the garden!

These beautiful images from the latest Marie Claire reminded me how much I love this era of design (never mind the clothes, look at that lovely outdoor setting with green cushions & white piping and the gorgeous yellow stripe umbrella!).

designer spotlight : Miranda Brooks

I've admired Miranda and her work for quite sometime.  I first saw an article about her in British Vogue in 2003 and was entranced by her beautiful designs and very chic fashion sense on and off site!  I've spent many hours drooling over her website portfolio that reads like a Conde Nast Taveller top ten places list - St. Tropez, Morocco, New York, Mallorca, Capri, Mykonos, London...  Here are some examples of her design plans (which I think are more worthy of being hung on a wall), sketches and photos.

the french cat

These photographs from Rachael McKeena's new book 'The French Cat' are soooooo devine.  Cat lovers & Francophiles get ready to swoon over the beautiful feline images and famous cat quotes from other catty people.  Oh and of course the french gardens are nice too.  Meow.
